Dilyan Nalbantov from MP-STUDIO tells about the profession_
The profession of 3D mapping specialist is generally difficult to describe in words because it relies entirely on the visual. 3D mapping is the light show that is most often displayed on buildings. Bulgaria has several similar performances to boast - most often on May 9, on the building of the National Art Gallery or the Ivan Vazov National Theater. Behind the shows themselves are Bulgarians too - there are several companies in this very particular niche in the country.
3D mapping requires not only strong technical abilities, but also well-developed creative thinking in the visual direction, but very often also a good knowledge of the subject of visualization, such as history. The profession is not very widespread and there are relatively few (relative to other types of events) light shows throughout Europe that include 3D mapping. It is also a perfect example of a profession that cannot be studied in a conventional way - there is no specific specialty in any Bulgarian university that is specifically targeted at it. But a lot of software specialties as well as graphic animation can be helpful. The rest of it can be learned in, generally speaking, two ways - through self-study on the Internet and through experience in a company.
My profession
I work as a visual effects specialist at MP-Studio. The company is engaged in 3D mapping and production of graphic elements, motion graphics (motion graphics), event animation, as well as the ever-growing interactive installations. I am required to find creative solutions and produce visual effects on buildings or decors for an event. What is more specific about 3D mapping is that all visualizations must be tailored to the architecture of the building in question. My goal is to create the illusion of a real transformation of the building and to have maximum impact on the audience.
My education
My education is a high school and semester degree in Information Technology at the University of Plovdiv. After my secondary education, I was not very professionally oriented and at that time this type of profession was not very popular. I started my training in IT, but after the first year I realized that if I wanted to do computer animation and video editing, the specialty that I had chosen would not be useful to me. My training went into the background and I began to develop professionally.
